Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 May 2026

1. Service description

Blocnet (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a decentralised static-site hosting platform. When you deploy a site, your files are pinned to the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) via Pinata and served through the *.blocnet.cc gateway. Every deployment produces an immutable content identifier (CID). Old CIDs remain accessible on the IPFS network even after you redeploy or delete your site.

Blocnet also operates a node operator programme. Approved node operators run server software that serves IPFS content to end users. In exchange for verified bandwidth contributions, node operators receive monthly payouts via Stripe.

By creating an account or using any part of the Blocnet platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Account eligibility

To create a Blocnet account you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher.
  • Provide a valid, working email address that you control.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

By registering you represent that all information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date. Blocnet reserves the right to refuse registration to anyone, at any time, for any reason.

3. Acceptable use

You may only use Blocnet to host lawful static content. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Illegal content. Any content that violates applicable local, national, or international law.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM).Any depiction of minors in a sexual context. We report all detected CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities.
  • Malware distribution.Hosting executable files, scripts, or documents designed to compromise systems without the user's knowledge or consent.
  • Copyright infringement. Hosting content that infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party.
  • Spam and phishing. Pages designed to deceive users, harvest credentials, or send unsolicited communications.

Blocnet may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules, without prior notice. Because IPFS content is immutable, we cannot unpin content from the broader IPFS network, but we will remove the *.blocnet.cc pointer and cooperate with lawful takedown requests.

4. Service availability

Blocnet provides its service on a best-effort basis. We do not offer a Service Level Agreement (SLA) or any guaranteed uptime for free-tier accounts.

We perform maintenance from time to time, which may cause brief interruptions. We will attempt to notify users in advance for planned downtime but are not obligated to do so.

Content pinned to IPFS remains accessible via public gateways (e.g. ipfs.io, cloudflare-ipfs.com) even if Blocnet's own infrastructure is unavailable. Your CID is always yours.

5. Payment terms (node operators)

Node operators who are approved and maintain a healthy, active node are eligible for monthly payouts based on verified bytes served to end users. Payouts are processed via Stripe Connect and transferred on the first of each calendar month for the preceding month's usage.

  • Blocnet reserves the right to adjust per-gigabyte payout rates at any time with 30 days' notice to active node operators.
  • There is no guaranteed minimum earnings amount. Payouts reflect actual verified traffic routed through your node.
  • Payouts require a valid Stripe Connect account. You are responsible for providing accurate identity and banking information to Stripe.
  • Blocnet may withhold or reverse payouts for nodes found to be fraudulently reporting usage, violating the Acceptable Use policy, or otherwise breaching these Terms.
  • You are solely responsible for any taxes, duties, or levies applicable to payout income in your jurisdiction.

6. Intellectual property

You retain full ownership of all content you deploy to Blocnet. By deploying content, you grant Blocnet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, pin, serve, and cache that content solely for the purpose of operating the platform.

IPFS persistence notice. Once your files are pinned to IPFS and a CID is issued, that CID may persist on the broader IPFS network indefinitely — even after you delete your site from the Blocnet dashboard. Blocnet cannot retract content from third-party IPFS nodes. Do not deploy content you would not be comfortable being publicly accessible forever.

The Blocnet name, logo, and platform code are the property of Blocnet. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

7. Termination

By Blocnet. We may suspend or permanently terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or if we discontinue the service.

By you. You may delete your account at any time from the Dashboard. Deleting your account removes your profile and disables your *.blocnet.cc URLs. As noted above, IPFS-pinned content cannot be retroactively deleted from the network.

Upon termination for any reason, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Sections 3 (Acceptable Use), 6 (Intellectual Property), 8 (Limitation of Liability), and 9 (Governing Law) survive termination.

8. Limitation of liability

No warranty.Blocnet is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Liability cap.To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Blocnet's total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to Blocnet in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) US$10.

In no event shall Blocnet be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Governing jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [Governing jurisdiction].

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Continued use of Blocnet after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
